Course Summary

This course is for consultants, engineers, technicians, developers or specialists working on projects or assignments.
Who wants to communicate and present at a consistent and high level daily, avoid misunderstandings, perform better and thus contribute to you and your team being able to bring your mission closer to the goal faster, a success factor for you in your role.
Most IT projects fail because of poor communication.
Modern rhetoric is based on communicative methods how to effectively plan meetings, conversations and what to say when informing and presenting ideas and proposals to coworkers, managers and customers.
They are practical tools.
Through practice, practice, practice, you will develop important skills that you can use immediately and that will help you collaborate and perform even better.

During the course you will receive knowledge, training and advice from Jan Kronkvist, our esteemed trainer with over 20 years of experience.
You will become more confident, clearer and more effective when speaking in front of a group and participating in meetings.
Through the exchange of experiences with the other participants and selected Case exercises in an increasing level of difficulty with feedback afterwards, you develop quickly, you become more confident and less nervous.
After the course you will feel more confident.
You and your colleagues, managers and customers will notice the difference and appreciate your new skills.

During this course you will learn how to present successfully. You will practice and learn to use rhetorical techniques that will enable you to effectively plan, prepare and deliver your messages in an engaging and convincing way.

During the training, you will also have the opportunity to film a prepared presentation using your mobile phone. After the training, you can review the performance in peace and quiet and observe progress and improvements. The recording is completely voluntary and only takes place if the participant so wishes.

No special prior knowledge is required. However, it is good if you think about “real case” situations that you want to practice during the training.

Rhetorical techniques that make you present and communicate better

1. audience techniques
To get your message across, start from your audience’s frame of reference – not yours! Broaden your perspective: learn to analyze your situation and your audience to get your message across.

2. ABC of argumentation
If you want to persuade, you need to be able to reinforce your message with arguments and have a clear structure with relevant information. Learn how to gather the right content, distribute it and create sustainable arguments that prove what you claim and can be accepted by the target audience.

3. language techniques
To make your message more effective, you need to engage your audience with clear and appealing language that engages them. You will learn the language tricks of rhetoric that contribute to understanding and clarify your message.

4. Voice techniques
What you say matters – but how do you sound when you deliver your message? Develop your voice and pitch with simple voice techniques. With artificial pauses, emphases and variation of voice pitch, you will impress your audience with your expressions.

5. body language techniques
Of your means of expression, body language is your most important tool for making a credible impression – as much as 56% according to a US study. Learn the postures, positioning and gestures that will help you stand out or blend in.

6. PowerPoint techniques
Using visual aids and getting the right effect is an art. It can be a success or a flop. Learn how to use PowerPoint slides that reinforce and clarify your message.

Daring, willing and able are three keys to developing your communication skills. Learn mental strategies to become a successful communicator when meeting your audience.
