4G/LTE: an executive summery for IP professionals

Course Objectives

4G (or LTE, Long Term Evolution) is being rolled out globally as a truly converged system, entirely based on IP technologies. Traditional telephony switch technologies and legacy protocols are abandoned in favour of IP connectivity.

4G standards fully align to existing and well known Internet Protocols, which will cater for new opportunities and great synergies across the ICT industry: Applications will be easier to build, integrate and manage, while networks will provide greater compatibility in design, dimensioning, operations and support activities.

There is an obvious advantage for decision-making IP professionals to understand the new opportunities brought by converged 4G mobile technology. This course looks into the 4G technology itself, and highlights the capabilities, expectations and limitations of the technology. The end to end perspective is shown and exemplified, while major interconnect and high level APIs are explained.
