Implementing VoLTE with QoS & Roaming

Course Objectives

The telecommunication industry is in the middle of a transition towards a single internet “all-IP” based technology. From the end user perspective, traditional operator services like telephony and SMS are becoming commodity services among popular and similar ‘Over the Top’ 3rd party services. The business implications for the operators are enormous, with disastrous impact on operator’s revenue streams from traditional voice and messaging services.

The roll out of 4G (or LTE) technology consolidates the “all-IP” and internet centric scenario, and the shift to mobile VoIP is inevitable. In that respect, the VoLTE implementation is an operator initiative, to maintain and strengthen the operator centric view on the most valuable end user services: mobile telephony and SMS. VoLTE introduces a single implementation for operator VoIP and messaging services, guaranteeing interoperability, high quality and seamless roaming to the end users, also on the new 4G technology.

This course delivers an implementation oriented view on the specifications and expected performance of VoLTE, as specified by the GSMA organization. Critical aspects on QoS, charging, routing and service provisioning are addressed. International Roaming and service level interworking aspects are also detailed during the course. Furthermore, important LTE and IMS core systems are described, and their role in delivering VoLTE end to end.

Audience

This course is attended by networking professionals, business managers, strategic decision makers, product and service managers and similar experienced professionals within the ICT community.

Prior knowledge

The participants should have experience from mobile operator business and good understanding and working experience from ICT area.

Course Content

2 days full time. The first day focuses on the LTE and IMS core systems and their roles in VoLTE, the QoS implementation end to end and intra/inter LTE mobility principles. Day two is dedicated to the VoLTE specific implementation issues, including service provisioning, roaming, interworking and charging/accounting.
