Supporting Windows 7 Desktops in the Enterprise

This five-day instructor-led course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills needed to isolate, document and resolve problems on a Windows 7 desktop or laptop computer.

Target Audience:

This course is intended for Windows 7 desktop support technicians who support users in all aspects of Windows 7 at the tier 1 & 2 helpdesk levels. This will help resolve problems on Windows 7 computers from hardware failure and installations issues to more advance scenarios using Virtual Private Networking and data security technologies in Windows 7. A minimum of three years of experience configuring and supporting desktop or laptop operating systems is recommended.

Prior knowledge

  • TCP/IP Troubleshooting skill
  • Experience working in a domain environment
  • Experience using desktop and command-line troubleshooting tools
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting desktop application problems
  • Experience configuring registry and group policy settings

Objectives:

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Perform OS installation troubleshooting
  • Identify and resolve desktop application installation and running issues
  • Troubleshoot hardware on Windows 7
  • Identify the cause of, and resolve networking issues
  • Support mobile users
  • Manage and maintain systems that run Windows 7
  • Identify the cause of and resolve security issues
  • Utilise command line tools for all of the above

  • Module 03: Identify & resolve hardware issues

  • Module 06: Troubleshooting network printers
  • Module 07: Supporting mobile users
  • Module 08: Internet Explorer 8
  • Module 09: Managing & maintaining Windows 7
  • Module 10: Securing Windows 7
  • Module 11: New Windows 7 interface features
