Red Hat System Administration II (RH134) is the second part of the RHCSA training track for IT professionals who have already taken Red Hat System Administration I. The course delves deeper into core Linux system administration skills in installing and deploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux, storage configuration and management, managing security features such as SELinux, controlling recurring system tasks, managing the boot process and troubleshooting, basic system tuning, and command line automation and productivity. This course assumes that participants have completed Red Hat System Administration I (RH124). Experienced Linux administrators who want to quickly prepare for the RHCSA certification should start with RHCSA Rapid Track (RH199) instead.

This course is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0.

This course is the second in a series of two courses that help computer professionals with minimal Linux experience become fully competent Linux administrators. This training will give your employees a solid foundation in Linux system administration, with improved ability to manage your infrastructure effectively. The course helps system administrators improve system reliability, streamline system and storage utilization, and respond more quickly and accurately to system failures.

Students will be introduced to more advanced administrative topics, such as storage management with LVM, SELinux management, and automated installation. The course goes deeper into enterprise Linux administration, including shell scripts, task scheduling, file systems and partitioning, logical volumes, firewall configuration, troubleshooting, tuning systems, containers, and image mode.

Schedule programs to run in the future, either at a specific time and date or recurrently, as a regular user.

Scheduling system tasks
Schedule system programs that need to run regularly to support the functions of the daemon or operating system.

Analyze and store logs
Locate and interpret system logs for troubleshooting and ensure that log events have correct timestamps.

Manage security with SELinux
Protect systems and manage security using SELinux.

Archiving Files
Create compressed archives of files so that they can be backed up and transferred to other systems.

Transferring files
Transfer files securely from one system to another.

Tuning System Performance
Improve system performance by setting a tuning profile and by adjusting the scheduling priority of specific processes.

Manage basic storage
Manage storage devices by creating partitions, file systems and swap spaces from the command line.

Manage storage with Logical Volume Manager
Use Logical Volume Manager (LVM) to manage logical volumes that can contain file systems and swap spaces.

Control and troubleshoot the start-up process
Manage how the system starts to control which services start and to troubleshoot and repair problems at start-up.

Restore superuser access
Gain administrative access to a system when the superuser password is unknown or locked.

Managing network security
Control network connections to services using the system firewall and network services that can bind to certain ports using SELinux.

Access to network-attached storage
Access to network attached storage provided using the Network File System (NFS) protocol, either manually or using automounter.

Installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux in package mode, either interactively or using Kickstart.

Manage containers with Podman
Manage containers and container images with the latest version of container management tools.

Working with image-based Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Create, deploy, install, and upgrade containers and servers that use image-based installation management.
