Course overview

This course provides foundational knowledge of the considerations and benefits of using cloud services and the Software as a Service (SaaS) model, with a particular focus on Microsoft 365 cloud services. You’ll start by learning about basic cloud services, including an overview of cloud computing and specifically Microsoft cloud services.
You will be introduced to Microsoft Azure and you will examine the differences between Microsoft 365 and Office 365.
This is followed by an in-depth review of Microsoft 365, including a comparison between Microsoft on-premises services and Microsoft 365 cloud services, a review of Enterprise Mobility in Microsoft 365, and an analysis of how Microsoft 365 services enable collaboration.
The course then analyzes how security, compliance, privacy, and trust are managed in Microsoft 365 and concludes with a review of Microsoft 365 plans, licenses, billing, and support. This course is designed for decision makers and IT professionals who are interested in using cloud services in their organization. This course will help students prepare for the Microsoft 365 Certified: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals exam (MS-900).

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify the key differences between Microsoft 365 subscriptions.
  • Plan for migration to Microsoft 365 services.
  • Identify key differences between Microsoft on-premises services and Microsoft 365 cloud services.
  • Identify how Microsoft 365 services support teamwork.
  • Describe identities, including cloud identity, local identity and hybrid identity.
  • Describe the management and protection of devices in the cloud, including the use of Intune.
  • Describe data protection, including the use of Azure Information Protection.
  • Describe compliance in general and the compliance features in Microsoft 365.
  • Describe subscriptions, licenses, billing and support for Microsoft 365

Target Group

This course is designed for decision makers and IT professionals who want to use cloud computing in their organization, or who simply want to gain a basic knowledge of cloud computing.
This includes considerations and benefits of using cloud computing in general and the Software as a Service (SaaS) model in particular, with a general focus on Microsoft 365 cloud computing.

Prerequisites

Before taking this course, you should have basic hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 services as well as a good understanding of general IT principles.
No prior experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Copilot, or AI agents is required, as the course is designed for beginner-level learners.

This course is intended for entry-level IT professionals and new administrators who want to gain a basic understanding of Microsoft 365 services and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
This course is suitable for participants who want to understand the core components, concepts, and capabilities required to use and manage Microsoft 365, Copilot, and agents—without needing prior hands-on administrative experience.
