Course Summary

During three intensive days you will learn how to lead and facilitate an Agile Release Train (ART) with Lean-Agile leadership throughout a PI (Program Increment). You will learn how to plan and execute PI Planning, coach Scrum Masters and teams as well as support continuous improvement and effective power distribution.

Course Objective

Participants learn;

  • How to realize the benefits of SAFe, including:
  • How to create team and technical agility and organize around the value stream
  • How to coordinate large organizations around clear, common goals
  • How to successfully participate in critical SAFe events, such as PI planning
  • How to adopt a customer-centric mindset
Target Audience

The participants are intended for people who are new to the role of Scrum Master or people who want to understand the role better and how it fits into a SAFe company:

  • New or existing Scrum Masters

  • Freeing up train engineers
Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites to attend this course. All stakeholders working in a Lean-Agile environment or transformation are welcome to attend.

Certification

By attending this course, you will prepare yourself to take the SAFe Scrum Master exam to obtain the SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification.

In this course you will:

  • Identify the key components of Agile development
  • Identify the key elements of Scrum
  • Exploring Scrum in the context of a SAFe company
  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of the Scrum Master
  • Identify the characteristics of an effective Scrum Master
  • Experience PI planning and explore how you can facilitate this event
  • Experience a full iteration
  • Explore how you can facilitate iteration planning, backlog refinement, team and system demonstrations, and iteration retrospectives
  • Identify ways to track the progress of the iteration and promote collaboration and synchronization between the teams in the program
  • Explore program-level improvements with the Inspect and Adapt workshop
  • Identify the characteristics of a servant leader
  • Experience coaching with powerful questions
  • Identify ways to facilitate better meetings, promote collaboration between team members and manage conflict
