In this course, you will learn how to perform the operational tasks required to manage a Red Hat OpenStack Platform environment as a domain operator. Through the three parts of the course, all the domain operator’s tasks and actions are shown in a logical order.

Participants in the Red Hat OpenStack Administration I: Core Operations for Domain Operators (CL110) course focus on performing both routine and specialized tasks required to manage a production environment with OpenStack overcloud domains. Participants manage OpenStack using both web-based and command-line interfaces. Key skills covered in the course include the following:
This course is designed for cloud users who deploy application instances and stacks, domain operators who manage resources and security for cloud users, and other cloud-related personnel who are interested in or responsible for maintaining applications in private or hybrid OpenStack clouds. Any role in cloud business, or people in charge of technology evaluation, should take this course to learn the operation of RHOSP and application deployment methodologies.
This course is intended to develop the skills necessary to use and manage the day-to-day operations of a private cloud. A private cloud can reduce costs through granular resource control, simplify regulatory compliance, and enable easier integration with legacy systems.
Using the skills taught in the course, users and operators will be able to create and use project resources consisting of networks and services running template-based applications in adaptable and flexible configurations, effectively eliminating the need to build physical systems for new projects.
This release includes major improvements and stabilizations, including containerization of services, new installation and management tools, a redesigned component for load balancing of applications, and a significantly expanded support for features in the OpenStack CLI. Clients can also use various installation tools, with PackStack now being completely deprecated.
Red Hat has designed this course to benefit our customers, but each company and infrastructure is unique and actual results or benefits may vary.
After completing this course, you will understand the architecture behind a private or hybrid OpenStack cloud infrastructure and be able to create, manage, and debug software-defined network services, resources, servers, and applications for dynamically scalable business environments.
You should also be able to demonstrate the following skills:

Introduction to Red Hat OpenStack Platform
Describe OpenStack roles, start an instance, and describe OpenStack components and architecture.
Manage application projects in a multitenant cloud
Create and configure projects with secure user access and sufficient resources to support the needs of cloud users in application deployment.
Manage OpenStack networks
Describe how IP networks are implemented in OpenStack, including basic TCP/IP stack functionality, software-defined network components, and common network types available to self-service cloud users.
Configuring Resources to Start a Non-Public Instance
Configure the resource types required to start a basic non-public instance, including vCPUs, memory, and system disk image, as well as start an instance of an application component running in a tenant network without public access.
Configuring Virtual Machine System Disks
Identify available options for configuring, storing, and selecting block-based system disks for virtual machines (VMs), including the choice of temporary or permanent disks for different uses.
Provide additional storage strategies
Identify available options for additional cloud storage technologies, including object-based storage, network-based file sharing, and volumes from file sharing services.
Configure resources to start an instance with public access
Identify and configure additional resource types required to launch public access instances for specific use cases, including networking and security components.
Automate custom deployments of cloud applications
Configure and deploy a typical multi-tiered cloud application stack, defined as an architecture-aligned template with scalable VM instances including instance-specific customizations at startup.
Manage cloud application placement
Introduce overcloud layouts that are more complex than a single site and explain the management resources used to control the placement of started instances, including segmentation with cells and availability zones, as well as placement attributes such as required resources on compute nodes.
