Get certified as a product owner – with a focus on agile and DevOps

This course gives you a solid foundation in agile approaches and DevOps – the fastest growing method in agile development.

As a product owner, you are a key member of the agile team. You are responsible for guiding what to develop, while giving the team freedom and clear conditions to deliver value. The course is aimed at those who are already product owners or are about to take on the role and want to be well prepared.

The course is conducted in collaboration with Onbird and is based on a unique no power-point concept, creating a more dynamic and interactive learning environment.

Please note: The course requires a certain number of participants as discussions and exchange of experiences between participants are an important part of the learning.

Course Objective

After the course, you will be able to lead agile product development in a context where the product and product responsibility extends beyond pure development and needs prioritization. Among other things, you will:

Be able to create a clear development plan with a product vision, a product roadmap and a product backlog
Have a deeper understanding of what is expected of you as a product owner, for example in the agile ceremonies and in the relationship with the outside world
Understand how requirements management works in agile development
Get a host of new tools to manage key stakeholders and develop the value of your product even further.

Target Audience

The course is aimed at those who already work as product owners or want to develop in the role.

You may have previous experience as a project manager, business analyst, systems manager, process developer or requirements engineer in a development organization.

Prerequisites

The course requires no prior knowledge. If you have previous experience of agile methods, product development or needs formulation/transforming business needs into IT solutions, this is positive but not essential.

Certification

The course ends with the Certification, which is completed online at a time that suits you. You will receive a certification voucher and will be asked to answer 40 questions in 60 minutes and must get 26 correct. The certification is done through APMG and is a globally recognized certification.

Course Details

The course is delivered in collaboration with Onbird who apply “no-power-point” in their learning. The course comes with accredited course material but the actual course implementation is done completely without Power-point. The course material thus becomes reference material that can be used for certification as well as afterwards when you perform work as a product owner.

In the Certified Product Owner course, you will gain an understanding of the cornerstones of DevOps and the agile mindset. You will learn what Scrum and other agile methods include and you will get an overview of what the agile workflow means in the context of both traditional agility but also in the breadth of a DevOps team.

Introduction to agile methods, the agile manifesto and basic concepts.
Product owner role, objectives and responsibilities, tasks.
How the product owner role can and should work in an organization.
From need to finished product in operation. Product vision, roadmap and product requirements such as Epics, Features and User Stories.
Management and development when the product is in operation.
The Product Backlog, as a planning basis, User Stories and techniques for refining, updating and prioritizing the backlog.
Activities and ceremonies in agile projects, planning meeting, daily pulse meetings, Review meeting and Retro meeting.
The role of the product owner in the different activities/ceremonies.

All elements of the Product Owner course are delivered in accordance with the “DASA Official Syllabus – DevOps Product Owner” by certified Onbird trainers.
