The most popular programming languages today

Python is currently the most popular programming language, according to the April 2023 TIOBE Index

Topping the list in April 2023 are Python, C, Java and C++, all with more than 10% market share. Compared to April last year, C++ is the biggest gainer with a growth rate of 4.68%.

After these four giants, C#, Visual Basic, Javascript and SQL are ranked 5-8. What is surprising is the high ranking of Visual Basic at number six and the low ranking of Javascript at number seven.

Also noteworthy is the entry of Zig language into the top 50 for the first time. In the April 2023 list, the language is ranked 46th. Zig is an emerging programming language that may one day even replace C.
