In this Total Learning course, learners will gain the knowledge and skills to design, deploy, and manage a SharePoint Online environment using best practice architecture and administration principals.

In the Digital stage of this course, you’ll be introduced to the key administrative tools and concepts of SharePoint Online, including Online sites, administrative GUI and scripting tool, site management, navigation, taxonomy, security, securing external access, SharePoint Online apps, Microsoft Search configuration, and SharePoint Online migration tools. You’ll cover the what and how behind these tools and get the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice through online labs.

Your three-day virtual Live event is devoted to a series of case study-driven activities. Here, you’ll elevate your knowledge of administering SharePoint (the what and how) to SharePoint Architect, learning the why of each element of SharePoint. Through this, you’ll gain knowledge of definitive guides for all aspects of SharePoint best practice architecture. You’ll learn how to design a best practice architecture based on business requirements and administrative considerations and controls.

The three-day event will then culminate in an in-depth challenge lab. During this lab, you’ll bring together all these tools to design a best practice SharePoint environment based on customer and administrative requirements.

After the Live event, you’ll undertake an Apply activity which will require you to create a design for a new SharePoint site for your organisation. This will be based on a real life process or business function.

At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

• configure SharePoint Online via the SharePoint Online Admin Center, SharePoint Online PowerShell and PnP PowerShell.
• state the importance of updates and have access to appropriate resources to manage change.
• have a thorough understanding of team and communication sites vs. classic sites and available modernisation tools and guidance.
• design and deploy best practice information architecture site hierarchies, scalable navigation structures, and company taxonomies.
• understand and deploy SharePoint Online available permission models and best practice security.
• design and configure internal and external sharing features and administration.
• carry out modern team site management including controlling site creation, limiting or blocking guest access via Microsoft 365 Group tools and PowerShell.
• perform ECM design and deployment including metadata, content types, and SharePoint syntex.
• understand SharePoint Online Apps concepts, deployment, and management
• explain SharePoint Online and Office 365 search concepts and best practice configuration, including Search Schema management and modern search administration.
• utilise SharePoint Online migration tools and best practice.
• operate SharePoint Online Monitoring and Reporting for auditing, compliance, and user adoption assessment.

• Basic understanding of 'cloud' concepts
• Experience with Office 365 core components, such as user IDs
• Attendance of the QA Mastering Sharepoint Online Fundamentals' course (QASPEUOL1) or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Experience with PowerShell – beneficial but not essential
• Experience with traditional collaboration methods such as email and file sharing

This Total Learning course consists of three stages:

• Digital - up to 20 hours, completed over a minimum of four weeks
• Live - 3 days
• Apply - up to 3 hours of effective work over three months

Apply stage

At the Apply stage, learners will translate the skills gained during the Digital and Live stages into their place of work. In conjunction with your line manager or relevant internal stakeholder, you'll be asked to identify a process, business function, or department for which you'll design a new SharePoint Online site incorporating the tools and best practices you have learned
